Poor Maddux

Maddux had a rough week. First he has a MAJOR collision with Jacie. Tim and I were swinging Jacie and Maddux wanted a turn. Maddux walked right up to her as we swung her and smack. Heads crashing together is not a fun sound to hear. Tim and I felt awful. The result... our first shiner! I thought Jacie would get a black eye also but luckily she didn't bruise that bad.
Next Maddux got croup. Croup you say? Its not respiratory season. Yes, somehow my kids can get croup at anytime of year. Jacie gets croup all the time so I don't freak out anymore but since this was Maddux' first time with it I thought that I would take him to the Doctor. She made me feel kind of bad because she told me if he continues I should think of taking him up to Primary Childrens to get some Racemic Epi. Jacie has been ten times worse than Maddux ever was and I never took her to the ER. Maybe next time I should!
Finally, I had brought him into bed with me early in the morning and he was still sleeping when Jacie came in and woke me up. I left him sleeping on my bed while I took Jacie down stairs and made her breakfast. We were sitting there eating when we heard a big thud. I ran upstairs to see Maddux screaming on the floor between my bed and nightstand. He had a big scratch all across his forehead. Poor guy, what a week!

The color on this thing was amazing. The pictures don't show it that great but it was a beauty!

Family Fun

A few weeks ago we had a Smith family reunion (Tims moms side). It was fun to see everyone. We especially enjoyed hanging out with Aunt Becky who lives in San Fransisco and Eric, Lilibeth and Bethany who live in Arizona. We went to the Zoo; had a pizza party; went to Gardner Village and rode ponies and saw more animals; went to a baseball game; and had a great BBQ. Unfortunately Maddux got sick half way through the week so I had to spend some of the time home with him. Because I wasn't there and I forgot to send the camera with Tim I don't have any pictures. Here are the pictures from the zoo.

Jacie was mad when we were taking this picture because she wanted to sit in front, not Maddux.

The new carousel

I always knew she was a monkey, she has a little more growing to do!

These two little cousins are so cute together, most of the time! They were holding hands all by themselves.

Tagged, again!

I've Been Tagged! How To Play This Game of Tag: Post these rules on your blog. List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog!

3 Joys 1. My kids 2. My husband 3. Sleep!

3 Fears 1. My kids or Tim getting sick. 2. My house starting on fire. Growing up in Manti we had a volunteer fire dept. so when there was a fire the alarm would sound. I would freak out every time I heard it thinking that it might be my house. 3. One of my patients dying.

3 Goals 1. Loose that baby weight, he's a year old now there isn't any excuse! 2. Keep my house clean. 3. Be a better mom and wife.

3 Current Obsessions/Collections 1. Blogging. I know that I don't post that often but any "play" time that I have I am reading blogs. I guess you could call me a blog stalker! Since Lost and American Idol are over I can't think of any other obsessions so I will list my kids obsessions. Jacie is obsessed with TV. That is all she wants to do. I try and limit the amount of screen time she gets but sometimes I just want her out of my hair!! Speaking of hair, that is Maddux' obsession. He is obsessed with my hair. It is totally his comfort item. I have tried to transition him to a stuffed animal or blanket but have not been successful!

3 Random Surprising Facts about Myself 1. I love baseball. Before I met Tim I thought that it was the most boring, stupid sport there was. Now, I love it. I sometimes watch more than Tim does! Go Braves! 2. Back in college I was totally OCD. Everything was alphabetized, my closet was color coordinated, I vacuumed daily, making sure there were no footprints! I guess this gives me hope that someday I can have an organized, maintained house! 3. I am superstitious. I don't say things that may jinx me. I should probably delete my fears!

I tag Kori, Summer, Christine, and whoever wants to be it!

Jacie's Dance Recital

I am so slow at getting posts done. Jacie had her dance recital almost 2 weeks ago. This was her first recital. It was absolutely adorable. She was so excited to dance on stage. I thought that she would get on stage and then just stand there but she actually did pretty good. She loves to dance and now misses it so much. Everyday she asks if she goes to dance today. They did a ballet number "baby face" and a tap number with batons. They were both way cute. Thank you Brynn for recommending this class.

Yes, I curled her hair. She is so good though, I just put her in front of the TV and she will let me do it, even if I take 2 hours!

Jacie is the one on the left, the one that is a foot taller than all the other girls!

Jacie is again on the left.

Moving

My dad got a new job which means that my parents will be moving from Manti to Price. It is totally weird. I never thought that my parents would move. This is like their dream house. My dad built this house and they have put everything that they wanted in it. They have an orchard, a huge garden, a beautiful patio, and of course the wrap around porch. I even hammered a few nails in when we were building it!

Maybe the worst thing about them moving is that I had to clean out my room! I had all my nursing notebooks full of hours and hours of note taking. Why I kept them I have no idea. I am sure I thought that I would go back someday and read through them, what was I thinking?! I probably threw away a whole tree! I did find some stuff that was cool, like all of my old Cabage Patch dolls and other dolls. I had Molly, an American Girl doll. When I got her I was older so she was in great condition, her braided hair still intact. I let Jacie play with her and within 10 minutes she was trying to brush her hair! This picture is of Maddux sitting in a doll desk. Jacie, Maddux, and Julianna (my neice) had a great time playing school. Now my next obstacle is finding where to put all the stuff I had to take!

Who Needs Sleep?

Have you ever heard the song by Bare Naked Ladies that says "who needs sleep, you never gonna get it, know needs sleep, tell me whats that for?" Well I thought in nursing school that was my theme song but these last 4 nights Maddux has decided to resurrect it. He was doing so well sleeping through the night and getting better at going to sleep by himself. The past 4 nights he has woken up at least once, one night it was twice (of course the night before I work!). He is up for like an hour and it is killing me. I have no energy the next day and just want to do nothing. Those of you who know me well, know how much I love and NEED my sleep! I don't know what to do. I want to let him cry but I don't want him to wake everyone else up. I would hold him but I don't want him to get in that habit. Any ideas?
